So, no matter if you’re a homeowner or you are in the real estate market looking to either buy or sell a property, here are some of the hottest home renovation trends that will rule the year that’s before us.
And while in the previous years the changes made to our interiors were mainly aesthetic in nature, this year we can expect to see more purposeful and meaningful upgrades. That being said, let’s dive right in.
Warmer Colors
The first most obvious change we can expect to see rocking the interiors in 2019 is definitely the color change. While in the previous years a lot of accent was put on muted shades, toned-down hues and neutrals, this year embraces the warmth of mustard yellows, coral reds and similar – almost fiery – tones.
Not just that, but all the cool toned colors that were previously very welcomed in the interior setting are now making room for their warmer counterparts. Simply put, the cooler tones were just making our interiors feel cold and unwelcoming which is the exact opposite of what you want to create in your home.
Maximalism
Since minimalism was all the rage in the previous decade or so, it is finally time to move past it and let some other styles take the reins. Unlike the previously bellowed minimalism, maximalism takes the more-is-more approach to interior decorating.
Commonly mistaken for the eclectic design, maximalism is focused more on how you mix the décor instead of mixing the different design styles. Knowing that this currently seems like the style that truly allows your personality to shine through your interior décor which is what all of us are aiming at, really.
Elemental Vibe
Furthermore, since we’ve been trying to reconnect with nature for a while now, it’s no wonder that this year’s trends are embracing the elemental vibe. What this means is that nowadays, you can expect to see much more natural elements, as well as natural finishes present in home interiors. The raw beauty of natural wood and stone will only make your interior feel warmer and more inviting, creating that perfect cozy vibe many are simply living for.
Room for Self-Care
Next, the self-care trend is finally gaining momentum it deserves so it’s no wonder that no home interior can now do without a room designed solely with self-care in mind.
- Be it a meditation area – where you should place a yoga mat, add some scented candles and make sure there’s plenty of natural light.
- A home gym – where you should add at least the basic exercising equipment such as the dumbbells, quality treadmills and a stationary bike.
- Or simply a reading nook – where you should place a comfortable armchair, get a trusty task light, as well as a side table, you should make sure that you allocate at least a nook in your home for this purpose.
In order to be able to love others, you need to love yourself first, and what better way to achieve that than by spending some quality time with yourself, doing something you thoroughly enjoy.
Open Floor Plan Where It Makes Sense
Finally, while the open space concept exploded in popularity during the previous couple of years, the impracticality of the design for the residential spaces didn’t go unnoticed. Basically, while having a kitchen, a dining room and a living room all situated in one big interior space, the fact of the matter is that this design is not quite the best solution.

Cooking smells will easily fill out the area and warming up such a big space can also prove to be quite difficult. That’s why you should create smaller open floor plans, such as combining the dining and the living room or combining the kitchen with the dining room.
So, if you’re looking for some hot interior trends to include in your home this year, give some of these a go and you will surely end up with a beautiful interior space all of your friends will be jealous of.
