How to Choose Proper Flooring during a Renovation

How to Choose Proper Flooring during a Renovation
  • Opening Intro -

Have you ever needed to consider doing some installation on new flooring around your home?

If that is the case, then there are many choices you can work with on the current market, from laminate to wood and tiles among other things.

-------------------------------------

You can deal with the situation either on the basis of separate rooms or you can go with one uniform solution for your entire home, barring bathrooms of course. Carpeting is also a nice flooring solution you can work with, no matter where you are in the world, as it has been around for thousands of years in one form or another.

Depending on the room and its specific purpose, you will need to have a different approach in each specific situation. The tips ahead will give you a hand in figuring this out as you go forward:

  • Kitchens happen to have higher traffic all around, but they also need to be a bit stronger in terms of water resistance and to have surfaces that are much easier to deal with when doing kitchen cleaning. For floor cleaning you will need to either stay true to the classic solutions, such as tiling or you can go with stone. Vinyl is also an excellent solution, due to its easier cleaning and water shedding abilities. You can use it pretty much anywhere in the kitchen without worrying about cleaning ever again.
  • The next room that needs special attention is the bathroom. It also tends to be a place where even the smallest of mistakes made and turned into a slippery surface can be a dangerous thing. The same goes for moldy areas and more, so you will need to do your best to have flooring that addresses the issue. Traditionally, this would be achieved with tiling, but there are other solutions you can work with. Vinyl can be a great way to do that as well as tiling, since it has really good mold resistance that is a welcome addition in such a high-moisture area. There are also laminate floors that are specifically designed to be water resistant, so you can also use them in bathrooms with the right setup.
  • Laminate floors can be used almost universally around the home, so your flooring can match the style of each room if need be. Combine that with carpet and regular carpet cleaning done every time and you will have a much easier solution you can work with everyday. You can also combine great-looking carpeting with hardwood floors as well during renovation to make things look perfect.
  • Your dining room is also another place that sees a good bit of foot traffic as well, not to mention a higher risk of spills, so you will need to make sure you address the issue of dealing with them as well. Good choices for this would be laminate and tile floors, as well as wooden floors due to resistance to staining. Make sure you avoid putting up any carpets however, as you will need to deal with a lot of carpet cleaning, especially if you have kids.
