What do you see in the image above?

  • Combo Porch with deck: what an interesting way to combine both porch and deck together. Let’s start with the porch. Simple step-up porch with handrail on one side and pyramid-like steps flowing down to the deck on the opposite side. This arrangements gives you an open look that makes the porch look larger.
  • Let’s turn to the deck: the porch steps lead down to the deck area. Both the porch and deck use treated or composite wood surface for the entire area. You are viewing a ground-level deck area that extends back along the side house.
  • Privacy fence: note how the fence has been used to define the porch-deck boundary and the general landscape. But more importantly, it functions as a privacy screen for deck use.
  • Deck decor and furniture: you can see the table with umbrella – the grill back along the back fence – and varying deck plant arrangements. Beautiful floral containers and small decorative trees blend beautifully with the deck floor and fence.
  • General landscape: what makes this combo setup so nice is the general landscape. The lawn is manicured and trimmed – decorative grasses and hostas make up the side bed – a large tree up front gives the area privacy – shrubs and trees along the house front and opposite side yard. All nicely done.
Final Observation:

this is the perfect setup for a small house – this design bumps up the overall value of the home. The landscaping boxes in the porch/deck area for total privacy. The only negative is getting food items to the deck area. Looks like you need to come from the kitchen through the front door to setup dining. Perhaps there is a side house door that can be used on the other side of the fence – but it doesn’t look like it.
