Bathrooms can be tricky …
Notes:
- As it relates to flooring … and selecting the right flooring type.
- Wood floors may not work given the damage that can be done by water spillage from the shower, tub and counter basin.
- Tiles are nice, but it can be cold to the feet during winter and also slippery given the high levels of moisture.
- Carpet – don’t think so. Vinyl sheet – very common but not the best quality. Stone – too rough for bathrooms. Laminate planks that look like wood or marble – possibly, but again depends on the quality.
- So as you can see, there are multiple materials to choose from – all with pros and cons attached. But it is best to consider inorganic, synthetic materials to avoid material damage.

Tiled flooring generally wins out

- Most would argue that tiled floors are the best quality and design for bathroom flooring.
- And the designs and shapes are just endless.
- Note the intricate designs that border around the bath area: large tile floors along the side of the basin, tub and shower – small tiles form the middle of the bath area.

Large vs. small tiles
Notes:
- Large tile planks form many of the flooring (and wall) options for newly renovated bathrooms.
- The larger the tile – the less use of grout exposure on the floor.
- Grout can become dingy looking over time that takes away the beauty of the floor.
- You might consider using interlocking tiles to reduce the use of grout between tiles.
