After all, you spend the maximum amount of your awake hours here. All the family members visit this place many times a day. Hence it has to be cheerful, tidy yet functional. But now you can use a bit of your creativity and completely refurbish your kitchen on a low budget.
Shift the furniture around.
Check how much of your kitchen cabinets are modular and can be shifted around. Move the larder to a new place. Interchange the crockery and cutlery drawers. It may be a bit difficult to get used to these new placements but slowly it will all settle in.
Check if you can turn your island into a mini dining table. This is a great option as now you have space where family members can come in and grab a quick bite just before leaving for office or school.
In case there is no island, perhaps you can add on a table with a few stools in the center of your kitchen and create one! It can serve as cooking area when you are alone and a place for family members and guests to sip a coffee and discuss things with you as you work!
Spread Happiness.
Make your kitchen a happy place. Pick up that old TV from the attic or even your old music player. You may even get your old laptop and fix some wireless speakers in your kitchen. Now you may play some music or even a movie as you work in the kitchen. After all, the kitchen should not be a dreary place. Make it a happening place.

You may wish to change the tiles but that is an expensive affair. Try removing a row or two and place some decorative tiles there. Or else you can even paste a few tiles over the existing tiles. These can be in sheer contrast to the existing tiles or have some beautiful motifs on them. Pick your fancy. Just do what you want with the tiles.
Next will be the cabinets. Replacing these with new ones is an expensive affair. You may simply change the ply on top. Or else, get these painted in a new color. You may even paste your child’s artwork on them and make your kitchen truly unique!
