5 Fun Projects for Your Yard and Garden

5 Fun Projects for Your Yard and Garden
  • Opening Intro -

Summer is the ideal time for enjoying everything the great outdoors offers, especially if the sun is shining.

As well as venturing away from home, it’s also the perfect time to spend in your garden, hosting family picnics and backyard parties, BBQs and just lounging around. If you want your very own piece of paradise just outside the back door, get your DIY head on and try some of the following ideas. You don’t need to be a master craftsman; you just need a spot of imagination. Below are five fun projects to try this season to create a garden haven.

Turn Your Outside Space into a Playground for the Kids

Would you like to tempt your kids away from their mobile devices and encourage them to play outdoors? There are some great additions you can install for some extra fun. How about a blackboard on the backyard fence so they can draw to their heart’s content?

If space allows, add a zip line and a climbing wall, or help spark their imagination with a tent. If you’ve got an old wooden chair lying around, why not give it a lick of paint and create a hidden hideaway area where your kids can relax and read.

An Outdoor Fire Pit

Fire pits have become a very trendy garden addition, not just for added warmth but for cooking and aesthetics too. We’ve felt an attraction to fire for centuries, and not just on a practical level.

We enjoy watching the dancing flames and bathing in a fires warm glow. Believe it or not, it’s also been found to lower blood pressure.

Build a Raised Veg Garden

If you’ve got a budding gardener in the family, this will be a brilliant project to keep their love of gardening alive, as well as growing some produce for the table. All that’s required is a simple frame constructed from timber to keep the soil in place. Build it to a height that even the smallest green fingered kids can reach and encourage them to get growing.

Add Some Flowing Water

Provide an accent for your yard with some flowing water. A DIY pond is easy to build and then you need to build up the sides and create a waterfall. Add some stunning plants around the edge and visitors will enjoy the relaxing sound and sight of the gurgling water. There are many companies who can provide you with the materials and equipment, such as Water Garden.

DIY Chicken Coop

These are much easier to build than you think, and you can let your imagination run wild. If you’re stuck for ideas, there is plenty to fuel your imagination online.

Just type DIY chicken coop ideas into any search engine, and you’ll be spoilt for choice. There’s nothing better than fresh eggs over easy in the morning, and chickens soon become much-loved members of the family.

There are many other ways you can improve your garden, making it a pleasant place to spend your time. Building arbors, custom seating, wooden decking, a trellis, outdoor bar or picnic table are just a few more suggestions you might like to try!
