With Halloween creeping up on us, it’s about time you began planning that spook-tacular evening. Throwing a Halloween party requires planning weeks ahead to get the details just right, but you’d be surprised at how simple the actual prep work can be.

Halloween is a holiday for both kids and adults, so it’s important to have activities for your adult friends as well as their children. Fortunately, there are five easy activities you can feature at your party to make sure they enjoy themselves (and maybe get a little spooked) and come back next year.

1. Host a Halloween patio dance party

Crank up the Monster Mash and trot out the Halloween-themed snacks. Sling some fake cobwebs around your patio and fire up the grill one last time before retiring it for the winter. This is a fun activity and can last the whole night if you want.

2. Host a horror movie marathon in the basement

This can be a hit for all of your guests, provided you have the right movies and enough popcorn to go around. If the audience is much younger, put on a kid-friendly horror movie or tv show and make sure the light switch is never too far away.

3. Set up a Ouija board station in the attic:

Teens love supernatural stuff, and allowing them to scare themselves senseless in the attic or an upstairs bedroom will keep them entertained for hours. Just set up a table and some chairs, place the Ouija board on top, and place some candles around the room for an extra eerie atmosphere.

4. Build a Halloween bonfire:

Nothing quite says Halloween like a bonfire. If you have a backyard fire pit or fireplace, you’re all set. Pick up the firewood, hot dogs and marshmallows, and let your guests have at it. Bonfires are the perfect setting to tell ghost stories or just relax and laugh at everyone’s funky costumes.

5. Have a Halloween photo booth

Let your guests walk away from your party with a cherished memory of the best party of the year – yours! Simply buy a large white piece of cardboard, and either decorate it yourself or let your guests add their own touch of creativity. Take a photo of your guests as they leave and send it to them via email with a thank you message attached.

Any one of these five activities is sure to entertain your guests and create a memorable experience. Throwing a Halloween party can be a lot of fun for not a lot of effort, so if you or one of your neighbors is in need of a great time, go ahead and share this article with them. And remember, you’re never too old for Halloween!
