Our Favorite Weird and Wacky Door Handles

Our Favorite Weird and Wacky Door Handles
  • Opening Intro -

When it comes to upgrading our homes, most of us might consider things such as getting new UPVC windows, upgrading old furniture or a new suite.

Yet there are much more simple changes you can also make that can do wonders for your home.

Have you ever considered upgrading your door handles to something a bit less ordinary?

A door handle is probably one of the most-used features of a home, as most of us use them to go in and out of every room in our house.  Many of us, though, probably wouldn’t even give them a second glance but there is a whole world of wonderful door handle designs out there, which can ensure that this much forgotten home feature will never be overlooked again.  For some weird and wacky door handles that could well grace the doors of your home, read on.

The Handshake

Impossible to ignore this door handle, this handshake handle designed by Naomi Thellier De Poncheville is a must for anyone with a quirky sense of humour.  Shaped like a hand, every time you open and close the door, you’ll be giving your handle a loving little handshake.  Not only does this door handle stand out, but it’s elegant and interesting, and will get visitors to your home talking.

The Wonderland Doorknob

This wacky and intriguing door handle is bound to raise a smile, as it’s cute and charming and will be a hit with any children (or indeed any older Alice in Wonderland fans!) in the house.  It’s taken from a character in the classic story, with the nose being the handle and the mouth forming the keyhole.  It would look fab on the door to a child’s bedroom.

Beer Mug Handles

These sturdy, wrought-iron beer mug handles from Ponderosa Forge and Ironworks in Oregon are a real must-have for those who have a sense of humour and enjoy a nice cold beer.  They’ll look great on an outside door or an internal door, so the choice is yours but we imagine more of a man’s man going for these.

Glass Doorknobs

With a little less of the crazy but with all of the quirk, Out Of The Blue Design Studio creates some beautiful glass doorknobs that will be to sure to catch the eye of your visitors. There are many beautiful colours and designs to choose from (it is actually pretty hard to choose which one we like the best!) and they are available for shower doors and cabinets as well as regular doors. The handles are custom made so choosing a product from Out Of The Blue will add something unique to your home.

Aurora Illuminating Doorknob

Now this doorknob we can imagine will appeal to two different groups of people. The first is ultra-modern tech lovers who just love to incorporate the latest gadgets into every area of their life, even when it comes to using the bathroom. This door handle, made by Emtek, illuminates when the privacy function is engaged on the inside. The other group of people that we see this doorknob appealing to is Starwars fans because our immediate thought upon seeing it was lightsaber!
