analysis: Tips for Creating an Awesome Kids’ Playroom

Add easy cleaning into design

Notes:

• Kids have a way of attracting messes, and you can expect this to apply to playrooms. Along with the normal dust and dirt, there are crumbs, paints, glue, and a plethora of other things that can make a kid’s space “yucky.” While messes are inevitable, you can craft a space that is easier to clean by making mindful furniture, flooring, and paint choices.
• Lean toward things you can easily wash, wipe down, or throw in the washing machine. Choose bamboo or similar flooring over carpet, as you can sweep it. Select furniture that won’t react strongly to cleaners, and shy away from white fabric materials or fabrics you can’t wash.
• And when you think about the right type of paint for the space, consider using eggshell paint, which is the easiest to clean.

Create activity areas

• Another way to make an area organized and fun is by dividing the room according to different types of activities. For example, you can set up a table and put all the bins with arts and crafts supplies in one corner of the room.

• Not every choice you make needs to be about organization. At the end of the day, creating an awesome kids’ playroom should be about excitement and creativity. And the easiest way to let their creativity run wild is by making the walls a personal canvas.
