However, some of those things are much easier to do than you might think. There are 5 of them you can fix by yourself in the house. Take a look!
1. Fix that Leak under the Sink
The vast majority of sink-related problems are caused by the pesky shut off valve. Before you call a plumber, you might want to check the shut-off valve because it might just save you a lot of time, money, and stress.
First off, you have to know your valves. Don’t confuse the shut-off valve with the angle seat valve because they work differently. The shut-off valve must have some sort of handle that enables you to control the water flow.
A very common issue is getting a leak from this valve, which leads to puddles under your sink and maybe even some unwanted odor.
To fix the leak, we recommend that you first check the packing nut. That is the part right behind the handle. You want to take your wrench and tighten the nut one eighth to one quarter.
If the leak didn’t stop at this point, then you might have to go deeper and change the packing washer. Here’s how to do that!
First, you stop the water in that pipe to avoid unwanted kitchen floods. Next, you remove the handle from the shut-off valve, and then the packing nut to gain access to the packing washer.
Just remove the old one and replace it with a new washer, which you can easily purchase online. Then, put back the packing nut and make sure you don’t tighten it too much. Slip in the handle and you are done! Pretty easy, right?
2. Refinish Your Hardwood Floors
Hardwood floors are amazing, but after a while, they somehow lose their shine. That’s because they actually do. However, making them shiny and new is extremely easy. If your floors don’t present significant damage, then sanding them is a step that you can skip. You can just use an acrylic polyurethane floor finish to revive it on the spot.
You can choose between oil-based polyurethane, which will give your floors a darker amber-like tint, and a water-based polyurethane, which is suited for a lighter maple-like wood colour. Be prepared to spend an entire day doing this, but keep in mind that it is a very visible home improvement project.
3. Get Rid of Those Loud Cabinet Doors
Do the cabinet doors in your kitchen bang every time you close them? Are you tired of getting goosebumps every time you take something out of there? If the answer is yes, then we have the solution to your problem.
All you need is a pack of peel-and-stick door and drawer stickers. To make sure they stick properly, clean the cabinet doors that need silencing and let them dry. Then, just apply the stickers in the corners and you will have silence in your kitchen for good.

Place the coin under the foot of the chair or table generating the wobbling and check to see if it makes it more stable.

5. Get Rid of the Awful Smells in Your Washing Machine

Before you call the plumber, you can try killing off any mold that might have formed in your washing machine. To do this, you have to use a special wash tablet that spreads the active mold-killing substance all over your washing machine. Remember that you have to run an empty cycle with the tablet for it to be efficient.
