The success of which depends on the measurement you get for your blinds.
Measuring blinds is a simple task that requires the utmost precision. A small mistake in the exercise can give you a disappointing fit. It’s therefore imperative that you get the measurements correct.
In this article, we’ll look at tips on how to measure blinds. Be sure to get the correct measurements.
-
Identify Where to Hang the Blind
Well, does your window have any recess? If yes, will the blind fit on the inside or outside of the recess?
Ensure that nothing on this recess will prevent you from fully extending the blind. Items that may block these include fixtures, electric sockets, and protruding handles.
If the recess is huge enough, the blinds will fit perfectly in the area. If it’s narrow, it would be better to keep the area free and fit the blinds on the outside.
-
Take the Measurements
Here, we’ll take the measurements for the windows with or without a recess. Use a tape measure for this exercise.
Getting the best measurement results will require you to measure at least three different spots on the recess. The reasoning here is, there’s a possibility that the distances are not equal. Always use the lowest measurement as your width.
When placing the order for the blinds, add an extra 1cm for the width. Use the same approach to measure the length of the recessed window.
-
Double Check the Measurements
You’ve finished taking the measurements and you’re ready to place the order. But wait, are you sure of these measurements?
The only way to give a definitive response is by double checking the measurements. In this way, you get to solve any anomaly you may have made.
Confirming the measurements helps avoid the mistake of buying the right blinds but of the wrong sizes.
-
Choose the Dressing that Fits the Size of Your Window
As you will note, there are some windows that will have the best measurements. Any type of dressing you try on them works.
However, that is not the case for other windows. They do not have a regular shape and no dressing can fit perfectly into them. So, what do you do? Abort the idea of using a dressing?
Definitely not. You can opt for larger blinds in the market. Customize them to cover the distance you want.
-
Hire an Expert for the Service
Measuring the length and width of your blinds is something you can do on your own. In fact, all you need is a tape measure and a pad to record the measurement.
However, despite the ease of this exercise, it’s still imperative you engage a professional in the exercise. In this way, they will take the measurement and provide the way forward in your purchase for blinds.
