… perfect for a weekend when you have nothing else planned, or when the weather decides to work against you.

Consider these five home upgrades you can finish in a weekend when deciding to improve the look and feel of your home’s atmosphere.

Paint

Painting is simple as long as you have the patience to tape off windows and borders, and cut in along the ceiling. Paint an entire room or floor of the house a new color, or select a single wall to make an accent wall for a more basic approach. A new color creates an opening for entirely new décor and style in any room.

Focus on Curb Appeal

Do some landscaping if you want to get outdoors for the day. Improve curb appeal by cleaning up yard waste, placing mulch along the sides of the house or around the trees, or plant a few flowers.

Change the color of the trim on your front door or buy and install a new mailbox and house numbers. Your yard is probably an ongoing project, but doing a little each weekend can really make a difference in your overall curb appeal.

Change up Hardware

Kitchen and bathroom hardware accents the overall look of a room and is quite simple to change on your own. Change from something dark such as black or a brass to a brighter option like white or stainless steel. With a drill, something to fill larger holes with, and some time, your room will have a new, fresh look to it without spending hundreds of dollars or hours of work.

Home Security

It’s better to be safe than sorry, and if you don’t have a home security system, now is the perfect time to install one for better peace of mind. They’re not difficult to install and get up and running. Many home alarm systems like ADT can be put in by professionals if you don’t want to do the hard work yourself.

Restyle an Entire Room

Select a room in your home you want an entirely new look for, such as an office, and get to it. Remove the rugs, runners, window treatments, pillows, and anything else contributing to the color scheme such as picture frames. Choose a different color and re-create the room. You won’t recognize the original, and it’s like you got an entirely new room without a long, drawn-out remodel process.

Home improvements don’t require you to take time off work or hire contractors. Some basic improvements go a long way in changing your home’s look while adding to its overall value.
