The bureau gave no explanation as to why this number has gone down, but this is a trend we like to see. This decreasing number may have been because more people are starting to take extra steps to protect their home while they are away.

Home Security Devices On The Rise

Many people are starting to purchase expensive home security equipment with video and live streaming technology. Purchasing a full on home security system can be extremely costly, especially to a college student. There are however, other ways to keep you home or dorm secure while you are away. There are a wide variety of alarms and burglar deterrent products that well give an intruder the appearance that someone is home or that a huge alarm system is in place.

As the college year comes to an end and summer begins, many students are leaving campus and returning home. While some might have cleared out their dorm room there are others who leave the majority of their belongings in an apartment for the summer. These belongings are at risk for being stolen as many break-ins occur during these summer months.  The following video illustrates a variety of ways to protect your home, dorm room, hotel or any other place you might be staying.
