How to Prepare for Spring
  • Bring Out the Spring Home Accents

Hopefully you took down the Christmas tree and put it away a long time ago, but you’ve likely still got some work to do to get your home ready for spring.

Fresh cut flowers can be a staple of spring decorating, so it’s time dust off your crystal vases and prepare them for use. If you don’t have any, now is a great time to splurge and pick some up on sale.

If you aren’t excited about the idea of decorating with cut flowers, potted plants make a sensible alternative. You have many choices; you could decorate with a fresh edible herb garden in the kitchen and stunning flower pots full of colorful blooms in the living room and bedrooms. An aloe vera plant would also make a practical springtime home accent, as its gel will be useful for helping you survive your first sunburn of the season.

  • Get Ready for Spring Cleaning

Get out your sponges, mops, dustpans and dishcloths and put them into action. As you go through cleaning your home, you will find things that you don’t use anymore. You will also have a better time coming up with ideas that will help you redecorate your home. As you come across things you don’t want anymore and old and out dated décor, make a pile for donations. You can then go out and look for new décor for your home that is more updated and you will have the room for them with all the old stuff that you gave away.

  • Prepare the Lawn, Pool and Patio for Springtime Use

Outdoor living is one of the best things about spring and summer time. However, it might take a bit of effort to get your home exterior in shape, especially if it has suffered some neglect during the fall and winter.

Inspect driveways and patios and repair any cracks that may have developed during frosty winter months. Rake up any fallen leaves and compost them to use in your garden, or give them to a gardener who can use them.

Clean off the patio furniture and bring it out of its hiding spot in the garage, or splurge on new patio furniture if you don’t already have some. Imagine how much fun it will be when you and your loved ones are relaxing outdoors on wicker chaise lounges this coming spring; then take action to make your daydreams into reality.

  • Order Seeds and Supplies for Spring Planting

Spring is a great time to maximize your home’s curb appeal by planting flowers, herbs and vegetables in your garden. Now is a great time to plan out your flower beds, map out your landscaping ideas and order the seeds and gardening gear you’ll need to make your garden oasis come to life.

If you follow even a couple of these decoration and renovation suggestions, your old home will have fresh new appeal that will help to prepare it for this coming spring.
