Most of us know that LED, or Light-Emitting Diode, lighting can reduce the usage of electricity to light up our environment.

But, did you know that there are far more benefits of using LED lighting?

Lighting uses 12% of global electricity every day. That is a large number considering there a thousands of things that run using electricity, including machines, air coolers, fridges, and more.

Most of us know that LED, or Light-Emitting Diode, lighting can reduce the usage of electricity to light up our environment. But, did you know that there are far more benefits of using LED lighting? And did you know that we can use the benefits of LED lighting in our homes? Let’s find out how LED Lighting will benefit our home.

LED Lights live longer than other Lights.

LED lighting will provide longer and much more stable light than other lighting medium. LED lights have a lifespan of 50,000 hours, which means it will last over 7 years if used for about 24 hours a day, and it will last about 17 years with our typical use of 8 hours a day.

On average, LED light can compete with other light bulbs, having 10 times longer lifespan than compact fluorescent lamps, and about 133 times as long as typical incandescent lamps.

Also, did you know that LED doesn’t really burn out but rather they become less bright over a period of time? That makes LED much more cost-effective in terms of maintenance versus other kinds of light bulbs.

LED Lights are tough

LED lights are durable to shocks and impacts which makes them great for outdoors. It can even withstand rough conditions like exposure to wind, rain, external impacts, and even extreme temperature.

Why? It is because LED’s are made up of semiconductor materials (which are enclosed inside sturdy components) instead of traditional filaments or neon gasses. LED’s does not use any fragile materials such as glass.

LED Lights are safe for humans and environment

LED lights are free of toxic chemicals, have zero UV, or ultraviolet, Emission, and do not heat up as much as incandescent or fluorescent lamps. Toxic materials such as mercury and neon gasses are used in fluorescent and incandescent bulbs, which is not safe for the environment.

Not only that, but fluorescent and incandescent bulbs emit UV, which heats up the environment it is lighting up. LED produces little to zero UV and does not heat up the environment, which makes it great for lighting heat-sensitive materials, such as artworks and archeological materials. It also does not burn our skin when touch it.

These factors make it safer for us to have LED rather than fluorescent or incandescent bulbs.

LED Lights come in variety of color, shapes, and sizes

LED lights are designed flexible in order to produce efficient illumination. LED lights are offered in a variety of colors, such as white, blue, red, green, and can be blended to thousands of color options.

LED lights are also offered in a variety of shapes and sizes. You can even ask for customized LEDs!

Because of these factors, you can have total control of your lighting.

LED Lights are the most Energy Efficient of all Light Bulbs

LED lights convert 80%-90% of electricity that is used to light, compared to incandescent light bulbs that convert only 20%, with the remaining electricity converted to heat. It can also operate in low-voltage for travel, rural areas, and for solar powered homes.

Many LED options can be powered by solar energy. As you view your LED options, may we invite you to also view our green energy center for for ideas and plans to make your home more energy efficient.
