How to Make Household Chores Less of a Chore

How to Make Household Chores Less of a Chore
  • Opening Intro -

When the bathroom is getting grimy, and the laundry basket is piled sky high, it can often leave you feeling a bit overwhelmed and stressed.

This is no truer than when you have time pressures applied, such as when friends and family are coming to stay and you need to get the house sorted before they arrive. However, over the years I’ve learned that there are some things in life that are just not worth worrying about, and cleaning is one of them. I decided to get organized – which really helps – as well as sprucing up my homeware and cleaning products to make it that little bit more exciting. So here is how I make household chores less of a chore…

Use Bright Colors

My first tip would be to buy the right homeware to brighten the home. Look out for cute sets of products when you’re looking around the shops, whether they’re bales of towels, pillowcases or even kitchen utensils! At the moment, I love shades of blues and greens, so most things in my home reflect this. By using the same analogy for my vacuum cleaner, mop and dustpan and brush I make them look less scary and a little more appealing to use.

Make the Most of Storage Solutions

When I speak to many of my friends, they tell me they don’t like cleaning because they simply don’t know where to start. With household items strewn through the home and laundry piles in a jumble, it can indeed seem like a massive effort. My advice here would be to implement storage solutions for the different areas of the house and then any chores in that area will become a lot easier. For example, I’ve put my towels and bed sheets in a set of plastic drawers so changing the bed is simple as they’re folded and waiting for me!

Get Some Help

If your home is a currently a mountain of chores waiting to be sorted, you might want to get some help to get you back on track. There are plenty of good cleaning companies who will serve your local area, so whether you need them on a one-off basis, or need them every week, you should be able to find someone to assist you. I often choose to do this when it comes to more laborious tasks such as cleaning the oven or scrubbing the grout in-between kitchen or bathroom tiles.

Go At It Alone

But you don’t necessarily need to get help though as you could probably tackle it by yourself if you have enough time. It’s all about perspective though, and it’s good to have a mind-set that will allow you to focus on how good you’ll feel once it’s all done. To help you get to that place, why not turn on your favourite music and get started? It’s hard to resist a little sing song, especially when you’re home alone!
