We generally go shopping without thinking much. After all, what is there to think and plan about grocery shopping or apparel or toy shopping? Just go to a store and buy what you need and like. The problem comes when we come home and see that we have bought so much stuff which we do not need. In fact, there are times when we do not even open packs and have to throw them away unopened.

It may look like trivia right now but when you add it up, it will really be a huge wastage! Hence, think before you shop, whether online or offline.

Shopping for clothes.

This appears to be a no-brainer. You need clothes and hence you buy them. But just check in your wardrobe once before you shop. Is there space for new clothes? For every new item you buy, make sure to remove a similar item from your wardrobe to give to a friend or goodwill. This is the only way to manage things and keep your wardrobe clutter free.

Now ask yourself, do you really need a new pair of jeans or will the old ones with a new patch keep you style? Do you really need a new dress or can can you do some mix and match and create a new dress? See if you can wear a jacket or a stole over your old tee and wear it in public. Do note that trends come and go very fast. So opt for classic pieces most of the time which never go out of fashion.

Shops will always try to sell you more using various offers like buy 4 and get 2 free. Do not get trapped. You just wanted to buy a skirt and a shirt. Now what will you do with 6 pieces? Do note that in the end, it is the shop that makes the most. So buy only what you need.

Shopping for groceries.

It is so tempting to buy in bulk since big packs per-item are generally cheaper. But if you are consuming just 100 g in a day, think how long a 5 kg purchase pack will last you? And do you consume 100 g on a daily basis? You may be consuming 100 g just 2-3 times a week. So what will you do with the balance? Most likely throw after it has spoiled or expired. You just wasted the purchase money by cluttering up your house with unwanted stuff.

Perhaps a half kg pack would have suited you more. Do note that grocery shopping is an ongoing affair. You do not have to buy everything on this trip. Are you actually going to make pasta, pizza, burgers and hot dogs in one week? If no, then buy only what you need.

It is not so difficult to keep your house clutter free if you plan things well. Even your friends will be doing the same and then trying to cope up with the excess. Now help them to come out of this mess by sharing all these insights with them through social media such as Facebook and others!
