Shaw “Dream It Do It” Fall Flooring Sale Inspired by Home Renovators

-------------------------------------

When Virginia Smith, of Knoxville, Tenn., finally had the time and money to replace her old, tired carpet, she knew exactly what she’d choose to replace it. With nearly sixteen years to think about it, there was nothing cloudy about her renovation dream.

“That carpet was very old. It was time for something new,” said Smith. “It’s just not my personality to have that particular color in my house.”

Smith had the old, dark grey carpet ripped up in a master bedroom and four rooms on her second floor. In its place, Smith chose a calming ivory-colored carpet, Shaw Floor’s Anso nylon Design Texture carpet in the Affluent Ivory color. The carpet not only made the home look and feel younger, but most importantly, it successfully brought her personal style into the home.

“It’s clean and has this fresh look that really lightens things up,” said Smith. “I had ivory in a previous house. I like it because you can incorporate color through the drapes or paint color.”

Smith’s decision to pick a flooring color that reflected her own personality and taste is quite common. Most flooring renovators have a style in mind when shopping, and the struggle becomes finding that unique product that brings the vision to life. Shaw Floors, a leading flooring provider, had this renovation challenge in mind when the company designed its 2011 fall Dream It Do It sale.

“When we went to the drawing board with the renovator in mind, we automatically started considering renovation-related items to empower people to get started with their projects,” said LaShon McGinnis, Shaw marketing manager. “We wanted to go beyond a traditional discount to actually make the renovation process easier, and at the very least, more motivating for the homeowner. ”

In addition to an up-to-$300-off scratch & save card, the company has also included a free renovation guide for visiting a participating retailer; a free tool bag with in-home measure featuring tools uniquely designed for a woman’s hand (so you can finally tell your husband to use his own!); and a chance to win a $2,500 flooring makeover. The scratch & save card can be found on the Shaw Floors Facebook page where visitors can virtually “scratch off” a card. The cards are also available at participating retailers.

The renovation guide is packed full of tips and fashion advice to help renovators bring their home visions to life. In addition to specific advice for walls, bedrooms, furniture choices and lighting, Shaw’s flooring tips include:

  1. To spice up a room or hide a floor that’s not in good condition, add a new area rug to your space. There are some beautiful options in the new HGTV HOME Flooring by Shaw collection.
  2. Have your carpet professionally cleaned, an easy update that makes a noticeable difference.
  3. Consider purchasing new bath mats to jazz up your bathroom floor’s look. And rejoice if there’s grout between your existing tiles! Cleaning out grout is one of the easiest ways to make a quick update that makes a big difference.
  4. Consider refinishing existing hardwoods or purchasing new laminate flooring. In today’s world, there are options out there to meet any design trend and budget.
  5. Consider how high-end carpet could influence the feel of a select bedroom or playroom. It’s an investment you’ll appreciate for years to come.
  6. For a thrifty rug solution, place two runners along either side of the bed in your bedrooms for a budget-friendly solution that can bring color and comfort into your room.

At facebook.com/shawfloors, Shaw consistently offers new design advice and has incorporated a variety of interactive challenges for visitors. The site includes renovation tips, room scene photos for inspiration and discount incentives. Also, flooring shoppers can visit www.shawfloors.com to find an overview of carpet, hardwood, laminate and tile & stone options.

“Of course, at Shaw we believe that a room design starts and stops with the floors. This is one of the biggest areas of a room, and it’s not easy to hide if you’re unhappy with it or feel it isn’t in line with your style,” said McGinnis. “And on the bright side, a flooring renovation is a way to quickly bring new life into your home. Now, we’re making it easier than ever to dream it up, and make it happen.”
