- Make sure it has seating the three benefits mentioned above must allow for seating and counter space for eating – chatting – study. The chairs have to be comfortable with plenty of space in-between for eating and working.

Counters can work in small kitchen too

- Your kitchen area may not have enough room for a island with a sit-up counter.
- But you can section off part of your kitchen can be used to extend your counter into a sit-up area.
- You can support the counter with a decorative support beam.
- It is a narrow kitchen this kitchen image has a narrow look – which is found in many older homes – the working space is within one long row. The counter chatting may not be as effective – but it is still a nice addition for those quick meals when you are alone.

Multi-level counter
Notes:
- Here is a nice, looking kitchen island counter with two levels.
- The higher level for those sitting upto the counter – the lower level for food preparation and cleaning (with sink basin).
- Note the ornamented stools that match the ornamented carving in the kitchen island – custom build island and chairs.
- But is there enough space? You need to question if there is enough space for eating a bigger meal at the counter. For example, say you have 2-3 serveware dished – there is not enough counter space to place the serveware with the tableware. The serveware will need to placed on the lower level, which means you have to get up in order to serve your dish. You might want to consider just one level for a kitchen island countertop.

Example of one-level counter
Notes:
- Here is an example of an one-level, kitchen island counter with a counter sink.
- Note how much more eating space area that you have for both serveware and dinnerware – unlike the image above.
- Allows for more casual dining without having to get up to serve.
- The counter sink is nice … but! the “but” is that it takes up more of the counter space. Maybe that works for you. But situp kitchen counters can also function as craft building or other home management need. It would be nice to have the full counter for your eating and working needs. Perhaps the kitchen sink can be positioned elsewhere.

- The kitchen island is really your workspace for meal preparation.
- The counter space is used for that purpose that it makes it nice to have cooking and cleaning near by. – for a bigger meal, take to the kitchen table.
- Cooking station or sink? Which one is best given the space requirements for situp eating and utility? We say the cooking station. Even though it takes up more space, it can be used as a serving tray when sitting up to enjoy a meal with the family.
