Making any area of the home special just for your friends and family who visit helps them know you’re excited to have them with you and that you care about their comfort. Expecting guests soon? Keep reading for advice on creating a welcoming guest bathroom.
Invest in Plush Towels
Let your guests know you save the best for them with fluffy, large towels in the bathroom. White is always an excellent choice for towels since it goes with everything, and you can bleach the towels to keep them fresh.
For guests, set a basket in the corner of the restroom and roll the towels to fit in as many as you can. Make sure there are plenty of hooks for guests to hang their damp towels.
Offer Guest Toiletries
It’s a nice treat to see the toiletries you need in a guest bathroom while traveling or staying away from home. Your guests will find relief when they see shampoo and soap in the shower after forgetting theirs. Stock up on the following toiletries and keep a fresh supply in a basket on the sink or a shelf in the bathroom so that they can easily spot it:
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Hand wash
- Bodywash
- Washcloths
- Hand and body lotion
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Have Good Lighting
You want your guests to see what they are doing, so improve the guest bathroom lighting if necessary. Both wall and ceiling lights have their advantages. And depending on your space and the placement of mirrors, your guest bathroom might benefit from sconces and pendant lighting or canned lighting if the room needs a lot of additional brightness.
The best way to figure it out is to get ready in the guest bathroom sometime and see how much lighting it needs. If you’re lucky enough to have a window, you may be able to use it as a perfect natural lighting source.
The glow of a warm candle in the evening after a long trip is also a kind gesture to a houseguest. It can contribute a nice ambiance to and act as supplemental light in the bathroom. Place a jarred candle on the sink or edge of the bathtub, along with a book of matches, so that guests know they’re welcome to light it and relax.
Include Fresh Flowers
When creating a welcoming guest bathroom, fresh flowers are one of the best ways to tell your guests you think of them and hope they feel at home and loved. A simple bouquet in a small vase, set on the sink with a welcome note, will put a smile on your guests’ faces and make them want to return.
