Make your house look holiday ready with just a few simple ideas, which can be done in a day! We all want our house to look welcoming, festive and wintry and in order to begin, let’s start with how our house looks to guests and all who enter your home during this holiday season.
Turn the lights on in the rooms that are located towards the front of your house. Then take a walk through the rooms and see which bulbs need to be replaced. During those dark holiday evenings, you want your house to shine brightly from every room that faces the street. Do this for any outdoor lighting fixtures you may have as well. To add that holiday touch to your house, add window candles to each of the window sills. Some window candles have sensors on them, so that when dusk approaches, the lights turn on. You can even purchase timers for those electric window candles. For those that do not care for all those cords, purchase battery operated window candles to achieve the same effect.
Besides viewing your house from the street, the entryway of your home is the second things that guests see next when entering your home. Create a porchscape with just a few wintry items you may already have. Prop up an old wooden sled up against the side of your home. Dangle a few colorful mittens or scarves from the top of the sled. Have a shovel up right against the sled. You could even place a pair of snow boots up against the bottom of the sled. Tie some greenery and twigs together with the mittens for a complete porchscape. For those lucky enough to have a large entryway, add a small pile of stacked firewood to an added wintry touch.
As family and friends knock on your door to be welcomed into your home, be sure to greet them with a beautiful wreath. Purchase a plain fresh wreath and save costs by decorating it yourself. Take a trip to your local craft store and search for discounted festive ribbon to intertwine into your wreath. Then take a trip to your backyard in search of berries and pinecones to add to your wreath.
As everyone steps into your home, continue that warm holiday feeling, by having then breath in the aroma of simmering cinnamon sticks with potpourri! Everyone will feel instantly warm and festive as soon as they smell those holiday scents.
Besides setting up your Christmas Tree and other holiday d?cor, take a look around your house and anywhere where you may find that you need just a little something, try placing a beautiful and festive poinsettia plant. That will surely brighten up any nook and cranny in your house.
