Bringing The Little Things To Life In Your Home

Bringing The Little Things To Life In Your Home
  • Opening Intro -

You’ve done it all – you’ve built a conservatory, converted the attic, installed a lavish swimming pool in the garden, made your floor-to-ceiling windows sparkle and, now, your cash is spent.

That’s it, the well has run dry, but your luxury house still doesn’t feel like a luxury home.

Why? you think to yourself, I’ve renovated everything in the most lavish way imaginable. My home should be perfect.

You can have all the riches in the world, but a sparkling behemoth of a property will never feel like a home without a few personal touches.

That’s why we’ve put together some things you can invest in to lend your home a human feeling.

A welcoming entrance

Just imagine stepping through your front door, only to find your home a blank edifice that mutes at you as you take off your shoes. Not exactly a welcoming feeling, is it?

You want an entrance that feels more like a warm massage than a dull prod in the ribs. Firstly, invest in some door mats with a personalised message to greet you whenever you return. Next up, purchase a few pot plants, paint your entrance a warm colour, possibly a deep red, to soothe you after a hard day at the office.

Your home should be an escape from the everydayness of the outside world, so make it unique with an entrance that comforts you.

Memories and mementos

Remember that holiday you took to Ibiza in 2006? How about your graduation a few years ago? Or that time when you and your partner nipped off for a romantic weekend in Paris? Of course you do, and you’ve got the pictures to prove it.

But what good are memories if they’re on photos consigned to never-opened drawers? The mementos of your life should be dotted everywhere in your home refreshing those positive memories every time you look at them.

The warmth of natural light

Have you ever been in a room with strip lighting that’s so bright it makes you look almost vampirically pale? It’s not a pretty sight, and an abundance of unnatural or harsh light sources are likely to make you both mentally and physically unhealthy more than anything else.

Every now and again, try to use candles in the evening and have your curtains wide open during the day. A good dose of non-electric light will leave your house feeling warmer, more comfortable and, above all, more like a home.
