The fall months are coming to a close
Notes:
- We are 2/3rds through the fall months. It was a busy time gathering in the harvest that included corn, potatoes, pumpkins and other fall-related crops. Thanksgiving is coming up – time to celebrate the harvest before we settle down for the winter months.
- Now that the harvest is done, it’s time to take down the scarecrow. The scarecrow is the symbol of the harvest that was used to protect it from marauding birds and animals – at least that was the intention.
- But more likely the scarecrow was used for fall decor that unfortunately comes to an end as we welcome in the winter season.

- That’s a good question – why do you need an electrified fence if the scarecrows works? That’s the issue – most times scarecrows don’t keep critters from attacking your garden.
- Deer in particular can be a menace – and so can rabbits – squirrels – and other wood-living animals that are looking for a easy meal. And the scarecrow’s job is to keep them away.

- With the use of technology, you can make your scarecrow come alive. For example, a wifi speaker can be implanted to make the scarecrow talk – solor wifi lighting can make the scarecrow illuminate at night – and motorized contraptions can help your scarecrow move.
- If you setup it up correctly – perhaps with a water detection attachment – the scarecrow could be more functional in keeping garden pests away.
