That is why it’s important to take time and choose the right type of door for your home. Having knowledge of the different types of doors available can help you make an informed choice. Continue reading to learn more.

1. Hinged Doors

When you think of doors, the basic and commonly used hinged doors certainly come to mind. They consist of one piece, attached by a hinge on one side, which allows you to open in or out of a room with a door knob. They are suitable for rooms that require privacy, such as the bedroom. You can decide to stain or paint them to match your interior colors.

2. French Doors

If you love an open airy space, but also want privacy, then consider French Doors. They consist of a wooden frame with clear, tempered or frosted glass inserts that allows natural light to pass through, while at the same time, offering a feeling of privacy. French doors can be one or a pair of doors that are on a track or hinged to slide open. Either way, they create a large space for moving in and out of a room, making them perfect for opening out into your garden or patio

3. Bi-Folding Doors

They consist of a series of panels, which are hinged together, and fold into one another when opened. They are useful, especially for large openings, where you can either unfold them along the track to create privacy, or fold them back to enjoy an unobstructed view.

4. Pocket Doors

These are similar to bi-folding doors except that when you open them, they slide inside the walls where they disappear fully from your view. They are commonly used in hallways, as well as small spaces like the closet.

5. Patio Doors

They can either be hugged or sliding and can consist of one door or multiple doors. To allow natural light into a room, they are either made of glass, or wooden frames with glass inserts. They come in handy when the weather is warm to allow cool breezes into your house without letting in pests.

6. Sliding Doors

They are available in singles or pairs depending on your taste, space and need. They are made of panel slides which slide back and forth over one another to create an opening. They are used mainly in hallways, and interior rooms such as wardrobes and showers.
