5 Qualities of a Luxury Bathroom

5 Qualities of a Luxury Bathroom
  • Opening Intro -

There's just something amazing about relaxing in a luxury bathroom at the end of a long day at work.

As soon as you shut the door, pour some bubble bath into the tub, and light some candles, you start to feel the stresses of everyday life melting away.

But if your current bathroom is looking a little bit worse for wear, you may not be getting the most out of the space.  If you want to upgrade to a luxury bathroom, keep reading.  Below are 5 qualities that every luxury bathroom should have.

1. Space

A luxury bathroom needs to have plenty of space to walk around.  However, unless you plan on renovating your home and converting a spare bedroom into a luxury en-suite, this may not be possible.  Instead, consider minimising the clutter that is currently in your bathroom.  Think about how many items you really need to keep in your bathroom, and look into creative storage solutions for these.  The more minimalistic your bathroom is, the more luxurious it will feel.

2. Light

In order to make your bathroom feel luxurious, it needs to be lit correctly.  Natural light is always best, so if you have a large window, make sure to make full use of it (though make sure to add blinds to keep your bathroom private!).  If, however, you only have limited natural light in your bathroom, consider the type of artificial lighting you could install.  Lighting that mimics natural sunlight is best.

3. Materials

Luxurious bathrooms are designed with luxurious materials, so cheap lino and a plastic shower screen won’t cut it here.  If you have the money, consider having new flooring placed in your bathroom; natural stone tiles are ideal, as is natural wood.  Consider buying luxurious interior glass for your shower, and having granite or marble countertops installed.  Top up your look with some Egyptian cotton towels.

4. Texture

Next, you want to think about the textures in your bathroom.  When you get out of the tub, the last thing you want to do is touch the stone cold floor.  Imagine how nice it would be to dry your feet off on a warm sheepskin rug, or reach for a soft towel from a horizontal towel rail.  Unless you have the time to maintain these plush furnishings, however, you may be better off sticking to soft and cozy bathrobes and hand towels, which can still provide the same effect.

5. Attention to Detail

Finally, the last thing that all luxury bathrooms have in common is the attention to detail that was paid to getting them to look spectacular.  You don’t have to go over the top here, but do make sure that everything that is in your bathroom has a reason for being there.  Something as simple as a book and a candle on a stand, or a decorative chandelier can be enough to make your room more personal, yet still give off a true sense of luxury.
