Pendants are ceiling lights than hang down by a chain or bar with a lighting source at the end of the pendant. Track and rail lighting

• Track lighting is a favorite lighting source for spotlighting certain decor elements of the home. For example, spot lighting decorative wall – lighting up a cooking area – lighting up an atrium – lighting up an outside patio. What makes track lighting functional is that you can adjust the light angle and position along the track however you like.
• A near cousin to track lighting is rail lighting. Usually track lighting is stationary and close to the ceiling. Rail lighting can protrude down from the ceiling and bend in many different shapes to give you best lighting effect. Good, old dependable ceiling mounts

• Ceiling mount lighting is something we are familiar with. It was the main source of lighting when many of our were growing up. Ceiling mounts were the main source of lighting for bedrooms, kitchens, basements and garages. Even business offices and establishments had ceiling flourescent tubes that kept the office lit most of the day and night.
• Ceiling mounts are simply a lighting source that is wired in the ceiling with a decorative piece mounted over the lighting source. There are also flush mount and semi-mounts.
• Flush mounts are flushed up against the ceiling – they are great lighting sources if your ceilings are low. Semi-mounts suspend from the ceiling by only a few inches. Semi mounts are a bit more fashionable and are the preferred style for higher ceilings.

Don’t forget recessed lighting

• The nice benefit about recessed lighting is that they don’t take up much of your ceiling visual space. Recessed lighting is tucked up into the ceiling providing light for particular spot throughout the room. The one disadvantage of recessed lighting is that the light doesn’t spread throughout the room. But if you add a number of recessed lights as illustrated above, they can really light up a kitchen is a nice fashionable way.
• Recessed are generally dimmable – and given many wifi capabilities, you can select all or select number of recessed lighting to turn on, reflect different color and different intensity. It a great way to light up an area without adding a fixture or mount to the ceiling.

• Our final ceiling lighting pic is infamous chandelier – probably the first style of lighting that goes back hundreds of years. In those times, chandeliers lit up spacious rooms in luxury homes and palaces using candles. When electricity was introduced, the light bulb replaced the candle.
