Reinventing Your Home with Paint

Reinventing Your Home with Paint
  • Opening Intro -

Things like spring cleaning and organizing your office help to spruce up your home, but you need to do something bigger if you want to reinvent your home entirely.

Adding a new room or renovating an existing one is a great way to make your home feel fresh. There are other ways if you aren’t ready to take on such a large task, though; painting your home, whether on the inside or outside, can give it a brand new feel that fills you with joy every time you step inside.

Painting Inside

When it comes to painting inside, you have tons of options for transforming your home. You could paint an accent wall to keep the workload light, or repaint the bathroom to give it a warmer feel. You can even change up the wall color in shared rooms such as the living room or dining area.

An accent wall is a single wall in a room that looks different from all of the others. An accent wall can be a different color, different pattern, or different material altogether. For example, painting a light blue accent wall in a white living room can make the room feel cozier.

If you want to freshen up your bedroom or bathroom, you can always do a single-room paint job. Simply decide which room you want to transform and decide on a color (or two) that would work well with any furniture in the room. The best part about painting a single room is seeing noticeable results without putting in a ton of hours.

Most homes use the same color for the walls in many rooms of the house. Often times, this color is some boring rendition of off-white. While these colors are a great choice if you want to play it safe, they don’t exactly give your home any personality.

Switching it up to a nice, muted shade of blue or green can give your home a unique look without going overboard on color. If you need ideas for paint colors, you can find plenty of inspiration on the internet.

Painting Outside

While painting the outside of your home is a significantly larger undertaking, it’s also going to pay off more. Even though you spend most of your day looking at the inside of your home, your neighbors and passersby only see the outside.

Giving your home a splash of color on the outside can really make it pop in a neighborhood full of boring grays and browns. You have two options when it comes to painting the outside of your home: the first is to choose a new primary color. This involves painting most of your house to give it a completely new look.

This is the biggest transformation you can make to your house, but it will require a lot of work. If you’re unsure about which color to choose or don’t want to do all that painting by yourself, you can always contact a local painting service.

The other option is painting the trim of your home. The trim includes small accent parts of your exterior, such as eaves, gables, soffits, and spots where corners meet. Repainting the trim of your house won’t cost as much money and won’t require as much time, but it will still give your home a drastically different look.

For the best results, repaint both the walls and trim on the exterior of your home. This allows you to choose two complementary colors instead of having to match your new trim to the existing wall color. With a little bit of paint, some creative thinking, and some elbow grease, you can completely transform your home.
