Your gazebo is a big part of your backyard and you want to get the most out of it that you can. Maybe you’ve had it for a few years now and it’s time to change it up a little and renew that thrill it used to give you every time you looked at it. Well, here are a few things you can do that will give your gazebo a fresh new look and add to what it can provide.
Screening In Your Gazebo
It’s so nice to relax outside in your gazebo on a warm, breezy, summer night. That is, unless you’re being eaten alive by a swarm of blood-sucking insects. Mosquitos can ruin the best of times in the outdoors. Even during the day, bugs buzzing around can be really annoying.
Maybe it’s time to screen in your gazebo. Adding screening is a fantastic way to guard against the swarms that tend to ruin outdoor enjoyment. Screening can also add a little daytime privacy as it tends to obfuscate the interior.
Adding lighting to a backyard gazebo adds a wonderful amount of ambiance. There’s several ways you can do it, too. You can light up the inside using a hanging light fixture or line the underside of the roof with string lighting. Even posts and rails can be wrapped in string lighting
You don’t necessarily need to illuminate the interior, either. Some outdoor structures look great when ringed in with ground lighting or even with string lighting covering the roof of the structure.
If you’re looking for more privacy, try adding wood latticework to the facings of your gazebo. You might do all facings plus a door or just every other facing. Latticing look beautiful and even allows you the option of adding vines or other plants to the mix. Morning glories or other flowering vines will look dazzling in the spring after they creep up the lattice work and bloom.
If your gazebo has a specific purpose that you like to use it for, then you might want to add some very nice outdoor furniture to really enhance that function. If you gazebo is your own fortress of solitude where you relax, you could add a daybed upon which you could lounge, enjoy a drink, read, or whatever. You can even add curtains for privacy.
Perhaps your gazebo is an ideal place to enjoy a family meal. You could add a nice table and chair set or ring the inside of the railing with cushioned benches.
Another way to transform a gazebo is to enclose the railing and add glass windows all around the gazebo. Once a glass door is added and the gazebo is enclosed, one may add air conditioning. Weather becomes less a factor on whether one should use the gazebo or not.
Many folks enclose their gazebo when adding a nice, relaxing hot tub. This combination makes for an ideal hot tub house.
A gazebo’s a great backyard investment. Not just for the aesthetics or for how it raises the value of a home but, for how it can be purposed and transformed to adapt to any need. Enjoy these tips and your "new" gazebo.
