Laundry – Utility – Mud Room

In many new homes that are being constructed, architects are combining the laundry, utility, and mud room into one versatile room.

First, it is a mud room attached to the garage and/or outside door. A place where kids can “clean themselves up” and discard anything dirty before tracking mud into the home.

Second, it is a laundry room for clothes that have been soiled to go from the floor into the laundry machines. It makes it convenient for the home manager to take care of laundry from the outside without dragging it to other areas of the home.

And third, it is also an utility room for storing vacuums, polishers, brooms, cleaning materials, and also home wiring for all of your home electronic needs. Some of these rooms also offer storage facilities for food and other household items.

So this Laundry – Utility – Mud Room may not be the most exciting room in the house. But it can be one of the most valuable when managing your home and family.
