Spec Plan L: Walls and Ceilings

what you need to do —

Identify wall covering and room trim:

— paint in living room
— wall paper in foyer
— columns separating dining from living room, etc.

Drywall uses sheets that are nailed to the wall studs and then taped and joint compound to leave a smooth finish for surfacing.

Ceilings also use drywall sheets and are finished in the same manner.

The drywall is the most visible interior part of your home. Make sure you pick a good drywaller.

Walls and ceilings may be painted, papered, stuccoed, tiled, or layered with other exotic materials.

Interior trim is the most precise work of your project. Trim includes moldings, chair rails, stairway, window sills, etc.

Good trim can make an interior home stand out. Make sure you inspect the trim work carefully as it goes up.
