Additionally, environments with expensive or high quality wood to include grand pianos and artwork should have indoor humidification. During the colder winter months, studies show that as much as 30% humidity needs to be maintained in an indoor environment. Distilled water is pure and will not leave such unsightly and potential harmful deposits.
- Humidistat – You should also choose a humidifier that has some type of digital or dial control. With this, you can set the percentage that you want the room to reach and once there, the humidifier would shut off automatically.
A room that has a low humidity level has a much higher evaporation rate compared to a room with high humidity. By using a humidifier or indoor water fountain, you can also control dust mite reproduction, as well as dangerous mold. With mold, you actually have spores that are floating around in the air, making the environment harmful, especially for children and the elderly. However, by keeping humidity levels within a healthy range, you eliminate risks.
The bottom line is that by maintaining proper humidity, furniture is preserved and people feel better. When levels of humidity are not within normal range, various things happen. Again, wood is hard hit, often drying out and cracking. For people who own expensive pieces or rare art, it is critical that the environment have the right level of humidity. Otherwise, damage would occur, many times irreversible

Although humidity is most important for homes with expensive furniture or artwork, or family members with health problems, it is beneficial for everyone.
