for Your Home

home remodeling articles and tips

There is no better way to embrace the fall season than to decorate your home with a few special autumn touches. It is actually quite easy to cast that beautiful autumn accent all over your home and to have a warm and cozy atmosphere to it. Here are a few simple fall decorating tips for your home and you'll be enjoying the autumn both inside and outside your home in no time!

Entryway

In most houses, the entryway is the primarily the door that used the most to enter and exit the home. Most of the time this is the front door and it is the first thing you and your guests see when arriving at your house. So this makes for a wonderful spot to begin your fall decorating. If you have a little nook or corner area between the front door and the side of the house, prop up some cornstalks and a variety of different shaped pumpkins at the base. If you have some steps that lead up to your doorway, try placing colorful golden or orange colored mums on each side. To really complete the look, hang a beautiful autumnal wreath on your front door to pull the whole display together.

Table Centerpieces

Whether you have a beautiful dining room table you like to show off, or even a busy kitchen table, adding a seasonal centerpiece makes for a wonderful way to show off some fall colors. If you have a glass hurricane, or even glass pitcher, try filling it with gourds, squash, leaves, and pinecones. Another option could be filling a beautiful bread bowl with clementines and a variety of apples. The orange colors mixed with the various colors from the apples will light up any table!

Candles

We all know that candlelight instantly adds that warm feeling to any room. But we also know how dangerous candles can be, when left unattended. Here is a solution: wherever you use candles in your house, simple replace them with flameless candles! Not only is it much safer to use flameless candles, but because how realistic they look, many believe that they are real candles. These flameless candles come in an assortment of sizes and some even have a timer built into the candle itself. For those wall sconces and other tricky spots where you weren't too sure whether to use a real candle or not, go ahead and now accent these areas in your home using flameless candles.

Cozy Throws

Nothing is more inviting than when you see the perfect reading chair casually facing a window, a new book ready to read and that very cozy throw just waiting to warm you up! All of us may not have this perfect reading nook, but we can make other sitting areas in our house have that warm and cozy feeling. Decorate each sectional, chair or sofa with a throw blanket. Either have it folded and draped on the arm of the chair or have a small basket nearby with a few throw blankets placed inside. Substitute your current throw pillows for some others that have oranges, reds, and golden yellows throughout their design.

As you can see, with just a few changes and very little time, your home can have the feeling of fall.
